How GovSignals turned founder expertise into a GovCon content engine with Untold
GovSignals helps government contractors find, pursue, and win federal contracts faster using AI-powered BD, capture, and proposal automation. Learn how we turned their founding team’s years of GovCon expertise into a content engine that recruits and builds trust in one of the most relationship-driven markets in the world.
"Engineers I want to hire are commenting on my posts. Existing customers are engaging. We started with zero LinkedIn presence and now content is part of how we recruit and build trust.” - Conner Aldrich, Co-founder & CTO of GovSignals
Challenge
Derek and his co-founders came to us through a warm referral from one our clients in October 2025. With their FedRAMP High authorization on the horizon, they knew it was time to build a public presence that matched where GovSignals was headed. But they were hitting a few roadblocks:
- Each founder had deep expertise in government contracting, but no social media presence or habit of putting what they knew out publicly.
- They were struggling with targeting - GovSignals serves a wide range of customers (from small GovCon firms to Fortune 500s) and they hadn't nailed down how to reach the right ones on social.
- Scaling content to each co-founder meant whatever they built had to be repeatable from day one.
"GovCon is a market where trust is everything, so having a consistent presence that reflects what I actually know is one of the biggest ways to build that warm relationship before meeting anyone." - Ethan Aldrich, Co-founder & CISO of GovSignals
What they needed was a partner who could build a content engine that (a) matched where GovSignals was headed (b) scaled without anyone losing control of their voice in the process.
Solution
We started with Derek, building out a bi-weekly interview process designed to extract his perspective on what was happening in GovCon, and turned that into posts written entirely in his voice. The goal was a full-funnel content engine:
→ Personal founder stories to build familiarity (TOF)
→ Industry thought leadership (i.e. hot takes, market pain points, industry news) to build authority, credibility, and trust (MOF)
→ GovSignals-specific content (i.e. product highlights, case studies) to provide social proof and build confidence in the platform before anyone gets on a call (BOF)
Derek was clear about how he wanted it to run: clean lines of control, no collisions between accounts, and a process that could scale without him having to manage it. So we did exactly that, requiring only 2 hours of his time a month (30-minute biweekly interviews with ~10-15 minutes/week on reviews).
Within a month of working together, Conner (co-founder & CTO) and Ethan (co-founder and CISO) came on board and we ran them through the same system, translating their voices and years of industry knowledge.
"SLED is decentralized, relationship-heavy, and genuinely hard to break into without credibility on the ground. Posting consistently about what I actually know about this market - the pain points, the pricing realities, the BD nuances - is part of how we're building that presence at GovSignals.” - Ethan Aldrich, Co-founder & CISO of GovSignals
Results
When we got on our first call, Derek had 2 goals:
- Hiring - he wanted candidates walking into interviews already referencing their LinkedIn posts.
- Lead gen - targeting government contractors with a sharper focus on MOD-related firms.
In just 5 months of working together, we’ve done that and more for Derek, Conner, and Ethan.
- 974 new followers across three accounts in 22 weeks
- 169,000+ total impressions gained across three founder accounts
- 69,000+ unique members reached and thousands of new connections and engagements from defense contractors, engineers, and the right audience
"I'd never posted on social media before this. Now I've got 400 connection requests backed up, and prospects and candidates show up to calls already knowing what we stand for. That was the goal." - Derek Hoyt, Co-founder & CEO of GovSignals
On top of all this, prospects and industry peers reference posts unprompted on calls and in DMs - a sign that GovSignals is becoming a name people know and trust in GovCon.
"I've heard from people DMing me, Ethan, and Derek or saying to us on the phone that our posts are like a breath of fresh air. Seeing that consistent posting quality and someone caring about GovCon is heavily appreciated in the industry." - Conner Aldrich, Co-founder & CTO of GovSignals
We’re excited to keep working with the founding team and share their GovCon knowledge with peers and prospects because, as Conner says, "Human-centered content is always going to win no matter what industry you're in."
